The Guardians of the Galaxy will be back for a second outing in 2019, but they’re not going to be as big and bold as the first film.
The film is actually a little lighter in tone than the first installment, according to director James Gunn, who told reporters at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour on Wednesday.
There are more of those little touches that are sort of cool, but it’s not as big as the second one was.
The tone of the Guardians film will be much lighter and more of a comedic tone, he said.
It will have a much more fun, more fun and fun-friendly tone, that is a little different from the first one.
And it’s going to have a slightly more relaxed vibe that feels a little more family-friendly, I think.
Gunn also said the film is a much smaller project, and there are more “minor characters.”
He noted that they are not necessarily the big characters, like the original film was, but there are “smaller characters, some of them that you would think you would have a lot of interactions with.”
The film will take place in a galaxy far, far away.
There will be a “pretty big galaxy far far away” but they don’t want to go too far away, Gunn said.
He also hinted that the Guardians will have more of an alien vibe, saying the film will explore a lot more alien species, like The Guardians.
I think it’s more of the “big space-faring alien,” I think that will be the big thing that we’re trying to go into.
Gunn also teased that the first Guardians was more of what he calls “a very light, fun film.”
Gunn said he has more to reveal about the film, but that he’s hoping to have it out in the spring of 2019.
Guardians of a New Generation was the first of three Guardians films that Gunn directed, but the studio was reluctant to make a fourth, as they felt it would have been too expensive.
